The Freelance Platform Problem (And Our Answer to It)

If you’ve been working in media production for any length of time, you already know the problem with hiring audio talent today.

At one time, if you needed a voiceover, a composer, or an editor, you’d send them an email or look at a trusted roster. Today, you’re forced into massive marketplaces that act less like helpful tools and more like digital gatekeepers.

For the person trying to hire, it’s a time-intensive process just to weed out the noise and find suitable professionals. For the freelancers, it’s become a race to the bottom.

These platforms hide direct email addresses and phone numbers. They trap both sides behind communication walls, so you can’t have a straightforward chat about a brief. They force everyone into platform-managed systems and take a chunk of the fee for standing in the middle.

It is frustrating for creators. Often ineffective for clients.

We’ve been in this industry since 2005, and frequently clients ask us for a specific accent, a foreign language voice, or a niche genre we don’t personally cover. At that point, we’re left using the same big listing sites. We don’t enjoy that experience, so we don’t like sending our own clients to them either.

So we’re building our own

We need a reliable hand-off, a trusted directory of vetted, professional peers where everyone can deal directly. Since we couldn’t find a suitable one, we decided to build it ourselves.

0% Commission. The client pays exactly what the artist charges. We take nothing.

Completely Open. No login walls. If a video producer wants an artist’s direct email, phone number, or portfolio link, it’s right there on the screen.

Hand-Vetted Professionals Only. Every profile is reviewed by us to ensure there is proof of industry experience.

This is just the start

Connect is in its development phase right now. The directory is being built, and we aren’t interested in amassing half a million subpar profiles just to look impressive. We want to create a focused pool of genuine talent across the audio disciplines, not an endless list.

We’re using our new landing page to build the initial community and share progress as we build it.
