This post outlines our previous approach to audiobook pricing and voiceover rates, which has since been updated. Check out our updated guide featuring a handy cost calculator to help you plan your project with confidence.
Audiobooks are said to be the fastest-growing sector in the publishing industry. This is great news for audiobook narrators and audio producers. This means that more and more people are looking to have their book turned into audio.
The options for having an audiobook recorded and produced are growing, and many authors are also narrating their own books.
To update our service for 2017, we have fully revamped the audiobook production section on our website and have made some big changes.
New Options for 2017
For authors who want to narrate their own book, we have a Recording Your Own Audiobook Guide
In addition, we offer editing and production services at a flat rate for author-narrated books, should they not wish to spend the time editing and producing their recording. This is available for voice-overs too.
Easy Pricing for 2017
Typically, in the voiceover industry, voice talent like to keep their prices to themselves until somebody asks for a quote. However, with rates varying significantly, clients may end up searching for better prices. To help avoid this, all of our new voice-overs are displayed with a guide price. If they can’t commit to a guide price, we don’t add them to our website. This is aimed at helping clients, but also saves us time.
Rate per 1000 words
We are familiar with the cost per finished hour of audio in the audiobook recording world. However, we find this too vague. Who knows how many hours their audiobook will be!? This is impossible to know until it is finished. What is easy to work out is how many words your book is. Once you know this, a rate per 1000 words gives you a pretty accurate indication of the overall costs.
New Voice Overs for 2017
We have added several new voice-overs from the UK and the US. We will be adding more as the year progresses, but if we don’t have a suitable voice, we are also happy to source a voice-over for you.
Check out the new audiobook voice over section.
We would really appreciate it if you would share this on your social media.
