Back in March I blogged about Avoiding Monetization Losses on YouTube.
I claimed that the dispute process was pointless if you had already had losses of monetization and stated that the mindset should be to prevent a problem by pre-clearing music rather than reacting to resolve a problem. Content ID claims on a big YouTube channel can mean big monetization losses in the first few hours of a new video going public.
Even if music is supposed to be clear of content ID, it cannot be guaranteed, therefore the best practice is to check all music before going public with your video. To read more about it see the post in full here.
