Corporate voice over services, like many things, have the majority of its history in the offline world. If you were growing up in the 80’s like me computers were game machines and the internet was not accessible to anyone. Thankfully, computers and the internet are now an integral part of our lives. However, some business sectors are still deeply rooted in the past and are reluctant to change.
There are no standard rates in the voice over industry. Most voice overs have their own method of charging fees, and some use equity rates as a guide.
While I have no issue with anyone charging whatever they like for their services this becomes highly problematic for my company when we represent numerous voice overs.
This is what can happen…
The client wants to know the price… period! They will phone and usually expect a quote or ballpark figure. Now, given that we have around 30 voice overs working with us and more joining us each month, it is impossible to do this if I have to contact every voice over for an individual price.
I tried this for a period and the result was that it took too long and we lost many jobs to other companies. Also, the range of questions voice overs asked when I did request a quote were just too time-intensive for what usually was a small job.
So, to make life easier for all…
We have created set price points for corporate voice over jobs. This means that clients can order immediately online and voice overs know exactly what money they will receive.
Although this is not popular with all voice overs many find that it works well for them. The voice talent has no involvement with the client, we take care of that, they just receive a script and a fee for doing the job.
Clients using our corporate voice over service benefit from a simple and easy process, no shopping round for endless quotes and no inconsistent prices. Audio is ready in 2 to 4 working days for an affordable one-time payment.
Unlike some other voice over services, where anyone with a microphone can pitch, our service uses hand-selected voice overs that we trust to provide quality and professionalism.

Good points Lee. I think voice actors should have a set standard rate to make their communication with voice seekers easy. This can be complicated by the fact that the voice over industry is ever changing but as voice actors, there should always be a starting point.
